What surprises many people the most is that the most dominant player in the AI space actually ranks near the lower-middle end of this list based on Forward P/E.

First, consider this question: once a data center deploys thousands or tens of thousands of AI chips, how do they communicate with each other fast enough to actually be effective? The answer is optical interconnects—using fiber optics to transfer data via light signals. Lumentum manufactures exactly the laser components and optical transceivers needed to enable this high-speed communication.

As AI clusters grow larger, demand for Lumentum's products scales alongside them. Take NVIDIA's Blackwell NVL72 rack as an example: a single rack connects 72 GPUs, pushing internal bandwidth requirements into the multi-terabit-per-second range.

At a 59.52x Forward P/E, Lumentum represents a higher-risk, high-elasticity play on AI infrastructure. While it undoubtedly benefits from AI infrastructure spending, it is a smaller company with higher volatility. If infrastructure spending slows down or if expected demand fails to convert into bottom-line profits, its valuation multiple could compress rapidly.



5. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) — Forward P/E: 64.94x

7. Intel (INTC) — Forward P/E: 156.25x

Lastly, let's look at Intel. This is a turnaround that almost no one saw coming. Intel has staged one of the most dramatic stock price recoveries in semiconductor history.
